About US
Inception
Sahiyar began as an initiative of a group of students from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 1984. As students from various faculties, we were conscious of the secondary status of women through our experiences as women at home and in the public sphere. The emergence of the autonomous women’s movement in the country had a great impact on us. It strengthened our urge to start a women’s organisation in Baroda.
